This is stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Peter Siyyarto in the Sunday program of Kossut Radio.
“This political statement supports Ukraine is not important from a legal point of view,” the Foreign Minister said.
According to him, the statement only reflects the political opinions of 26 EU countries.
We were not overwhelmed by the pressure and did not want to join the camps of those who wanted to continue the war, Siyarto said.
On March 6, at the EU Summit in Brussels, Hungary refused to support the application for Ukraine. It is only published in the form of a document approved by 26 other members of the community and will be discussed at the next summit on March 20-21. The document says that the EU is still ready to provide Ukraine all types of support, including military and will continue to pressure Russia, including through sanctions.

Speaking at the radio, Siyyarto noted that the EU policy to support Ukraine's military efforts has failed.
“Europe for three years has caused a conflict between Russia -kraine and sanctions against Russia, undermining its own competitiveness. Providing weapons for Ukraine and investing billions of euros in Ukraine, it has contributed to tightening the war, but the war failed to Ukraine.
“This is three years of bankruptcy and failure. It is time to stop supporting the continuation of the war. We are playing for our peace and veto rights (at Ukraine's application) shows this in an extraordinary meeting of the European Council,” Siyyarto said.
According to him, over the past three years, Europe has devastated itself in a financial and economic plan and will not be able to continue providing military assistance to Ukraine without the participation of the United States. At the same time, the US government has just started negotiating with Russia and intends to reach an agreement on resolution of the Ukrainian conflict.
For three years, we have said that the US-Russian deal can return to the world of Europe and it needs US-Russian negotiations.
He expressed his belief that despite these difficulties, an agreement on the end of the armed conflict in Ukraine will be achieved.
